A cargo plane crashed on Tuesday, shortly after the takeoff from the Colombian town of Puerto Carreno. Following this incident, five crew members died and another one was severely wounded, writes ABC News website.

A Boeing 727-200 cargo plane of AeroSucre airline crashed about eight kilometers from the airport of Puerto Carreno, just three minutes after the takeoff.

The plane was carrying a crew of six people, five of whom died, as the Colombian aviation authority announced.

According to witnesses, the plane would have exceeded the track during takeoff maneuvers.

‘Five of the crew members died. The sixth was hospitalized and then transferred to Bogota in a special plane’, said Colonel Freddy Bonilla, Secretary of Civil Aviation Security, quoted by ABC News.

The only survivor of the tragic accident was a flight technician, but his condition is critical.

The plane belonged to the Colombian company Aerosucre and took off from Puerto Carreno, heading to Bogota. It crashed near the border between Colombia and Venezuela, somewhere around 5:23 p.m. local time (GMT 11:23 p.m.)

According to the first information that appeared in the press, it seems that the plane had skidded off the track and crashed at takeoff.

Authorities announced that they have opened an investigation in order to establish the exact circumstances of the accident.

Earlier in November, another plane RJ85, with 72 passengers and 9 crew members aboard, crashed in Colombia, in Cerro El Gordo, La Union region.

The plane was expected to land on international airport Jose Maria Cordova Rionegro, but crashed right before its arrival.
