The construction of a parking space in the cemetery of Normandy stirred massive controversy after the mayor said there are no other solutions.
Jacky Brionne, president of the Federation to save the heritage of cemeteries and funerals said that if they construct these parking spaces the old cemetery Reffuveille (Manche) will disappear.
28 tombs were already emptied last month. The main purpose was to carry parking spaces and provide access to the partying for people with reduced mobility.
This decision was taken by the city council in May of 2016.
But Jacky Brionne believes this measure is inadmissible and the idea of a massive exhuming is unacceptable.
The case will most likely trigger a series of nasty lawsuits.
