German investigators claim that an arrest for the attack in Berlin’s Christmas market is imminent, and the attacker is, in fact, a Tunisian, just like in Nice.
Daily Mail has published the first image of the author of the tragedy in Berlin, Anis Amri. According to the Berlin prosecutors, the young man established in Germany earlier this year.
23-year-old Anis Amri became the most wanted man in Europe, writes the German media. The press suggests that Anis was born in Tatouine in 1992, on 24th December.
The investigators published these details after they discovered Amris’ ID, under the driver’s seat in the truck.
The officers reported they found traces of blood in the cabin and Amri could be seriously injured. Although they initiated massive searches in the hospitals in Berlin and nearby they were not able to find anything.
Initially, the Berlin police arrested a Pakistani, known as Baluch Naved but he was released because they were not able to obtain the required evidence.
Authorities stated the criminal is still at large and armed.
A 20-ton truck with license plates from Poland and carried steel when ran over the crowd in Berlin.
12 people died and 48 were severely injured during the attack, near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
The incident is quite similar to the bombing in Nice from 14th July when 86 people were killed.
Until now, Germany was spared from bloody attacks like those from France and Belgium.
Early this year, the German forces initiated a series of raids in the capital and they arrested three Algerian suspects, who allegedly had links with the Islamic State.
Regarding the incident from the Christmas Fair, according to the German prosecutors, the plans of the terrorist were already extremely advanced.
