The British journalist is blaming Saudi Arabia of ‘playing proxy wars’ in Middle East. According to a video footage leaked by the Foreign Secretary suggests the diplomats and officials are ‘twisting and abusing religion’ to achieve their own purposes.
The evidence was first published by the British newspaper The Guardian, but the one who discussed about it first was none other than Boris Johnson, during an official discussion held in Rome.
The interpretative comments were made shortly after British Prime-Minister Theresa May returned in London from Middle East.
The British state leader reunited with an official group, which included the leaders of Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
‘There are politicians who are twisting and abusing religion and different strains of the same religion in order to further their own political objectives. That’s one of the biggest political problems in the whole region’, affirmed the popular historian.
‘That’s why you’ve got the Saudis, Iran, everybody, moving in and puppeteering and playing proxy wars.’, added the Foreign Secretary.
Boris Johnson’s disturbing comments sparked mixed reactions and he managed to get himself in trouble once again.
According to The Guardian, his not-so-pleasant habit of speaking his mind will force UK’s political allies to withdraw from the scene.
‘There are not enough big characters, big people, men or women, who are willing to reach out beyond their Sunni or Shia or whatever group to the other side and bring people together and to develop a national story again. That is what’s lacking. And that’s the tragedy.’, said Johnson in Rome.
