The worldwide sales for November of the German car manufacturer BMW rose by 5.9% (177.740 units), which is twice than the values recorded by their main rival, Mercedes-Benz.
The numbers reported by the German automaker could turn the company into the new world leader in the premium car segment, according to Reuters.
In November, Mercedes-Benz sales rose by 12.7% (182.602 units). In the first ten months of this year, the Stuttgart-based firm sold 1.893 million cars, which represents more than 3.8% than BMW.
In 2015, the Bavarian manufacturer has become the leading premium car market, with 1.91 million units sold, compared to 1.87 million cars sold by Mercedes-Benz.
Daimler, which is the parent of Mercedes-Benz has achieved substantial profits and revenues in the third quarter, due to the sales of class E and some of the SUVs. Another positive effect were the positive currency exchange rates.
However, the group achieved a net profit of 2.595 billion euros in the third quarter, in comparison to the 2.385 billion reported a year ago.
Earnings before interest, tax and exceptional items (EBIT) rose by 10%, to $4 billion.
Group revenues increased by 4% compared to the same period from last year, to 38.6 billion euros.
For 2016, the January to October figures were: Mercedes-Benz on 1.71 million (up 12 per cent), BMW on 1.65 million (up 5.5 per cent) and Audi on 1.56 million (up 4 per cent), writes caradvice.com.au
