Most times, a competition is a key to come up with an innovation but Samsung and Google plan to cooperate in order to improve artificial intelligence.
While discussing its annual income, the South Korean brand also approached the collaboration and competition issue.
Samsung admitted that working next to rival Google might improve artificial intelligence on most devices.
The vice-president of Samsung Mobile, Lee Kyeong-tae believes that “Samsung and Google must maintain their strategic partnership to develop artificial intelligence and to improve the market for this new technology”, writes cnet.com
The collaboration between the two companies appears in a controversial period for Samsung, who is about to launch virtual assistant Bixby for Samsung Galaxy S8.
Using artificial intelligence becomes increasingly popular, considering that companies like HTC and Huawei already introduced these features.
Meanwhile, American giant Google offers Google Assistant for Pixel.
If artificial intelligence has a decisive role in Pixel’s success then this is an advantageous situation for both companies.
The South Korean brand obtains info on how to improve its own system and Google obtains more data to improve its virtual assistant.
The virtual assistant to be launched by the Seoul-based company will probably become available on all devices.
“We are expecting a slow on the global market of devices this year and the services like artificial intelligence will create the difference between producers”, writes Samsung in a press conference.
Adding new features for their top ranked devices might represent a way to ensure the supremacy on the market.
