The chilly weather outside makes you want to stay in bed all day, isn’t it?

Also, the accentuated desire of eating in bed tends to become even more significant.

But, is it good to follow this instinct?

Kadi Dulude, the owner of a laundry in New York says that at least half of the bed sheets he must clean are stains left behind by people eating in their beds.

‘Most of the people eating in bed usually take their dishes where they belong to, after they eat – the sink. But, in some extreme cases, the bed becomes a dining place’, says Dulude.

If not properly cleaned, the mess left behind triggers the appearance of many cockroaches.

Paul Bello, an exterminator and owner of PJB Pest Management Consulting, said that cockroaches tend to appear even in places where there are only a few crumbs left.

Lou Sorkin, an entomologist and scientific assistant at The American National History Museum, said that, in general, sweet foods like cakes or muffins might be a perfect attraction for ants and fleas.

So, leftovers such as milk on the bottom of a cereal bowl, pizza or even a hamburger left in a box on the floor, can attract ants, fleas or cockroaches.

Dulude advises people to wash their sheets once a week. But, those who are constantly eating in bed should do this more often, even every three days.

Chef Nigella Lawson had a different point of view regarding eating in bed.

She believes that these warnings came from people who see only stains and crumbs. Instead, you should appreciate the convenience of having a dinner under warm blankets.

Also, Nigella said that nowadays we no longer know what is socially acceptable.

Breakfast in bed is permitted, but not dinner.

Nigella advised people to start using a hard pillow and placing a towel under the plate to keep the sheets away from stains or crumbs.
