This summer, several rumors began to emerge about two new Google smartwatches to be launched in 2017, alongside a new version of Android Wear.
The information was recently confirmed by Jeff Chang, Product Manager at Google’s Android Wear Division, who said the existence of these two devices and the temporary launching window is real.
Unfortunately, we do not have other new details about these devices.
The two watches, which appeared on the Internet under the names ‘Angelfish’ and ‘Swordfish’, will not be included in the category of Pixel devices, like the latest Google smartphone.
It is not clear whether they will be launched under the old Nexus brand, or whether they will be part of a completely new line of portable devices belonging to the giant technology company.
The fact is that alongside the code names and information about their existence, were also revealed their capabilities, but they still have not been confirmed.
Angelfish should be the top model, equipped with a larger display, LTE modem, GPS, several buttons and a pulse sensor that can be used independently of the phone.
Instead, Swordfish model will rely on WiFi and Bluetooth connections and will most likely benefit from a NFC sensor, just like the top model, to use the new capability of Android Pay designed for Android Wear 2.0.
Jeff Chang confirmed that the two devices will be launched in the first quarter of 2017, most likely somewhere around the debut of the new operating Android Wear 2.0 system.
Undoubtedly, these Google smartwatches are two of the most expected devices of the year that follows.
