Joaquin Guzman or El Chapo is going to get his own movie. The film about the cartel leader will be produced by Sony.

After a book about how El Chapo was captured will reach the market, Sony is reserving all the rights to bring it to the big screen.

The story is about the American lawman who managed to capture one of the most wanted criminals on earth.

The book is written by Douglas Century and Cole Merrell and is going to be out soon, more precisely in October.

The film will be produced by 3 arts Entertainment.

El Chapo is from Mexico and is the boss of the drug cartel, entitled ‘Sinoloa’. Not only that Guzman was a powerful leader and one of the most powerful ones in history, but he also has a reputation for escaping prisons.

He managed to make the headlines after he escaped prisons three times. This lead to major enforcements. Every authority was searching for him.

Last year, he was finally captured. In January, this year, Guzman was extradited from the United States.

The movie that is going to be produced by Sony is not the single take on El Chapo. Fox already has a thriller entitled “The Cartel”. This is an adaptation after a book that was written by Don Winslow. Ridley Scott is featured on the movie.

Sony still has to pick its team and most importantly, its director. Until now, Michael Bay seems to be a top choice. The only thing that they want is to have a director with a really big name.
