On Monday morning, at the London Heathrow Airport, about 100 flights were canceled.
The reason for the cancels is the heavy fog and the temperatures under-7C. All the Southern parts of England are affected by this bad weather.
Not only this airport was affected, but Gatwick and City as well.
At Katesbridge, in County Town, were the lowest temperatures: -7.1C. In Oxfordshire and in Norholt, temperatures of -6.9C and -6.3C respectively were encountered.
According to the MET Office, the warning for fog will be available until 10:30 Am. The areas concerned are the ones in the south.
Starting from Exeter to Dover, this severe fog will continue.
The officials from the Heathrow Airport warned people to check the delays before leaving home.
The visibility is really low, to about 100 meters.
“Heathrow is currently on 100 meters visibility which is very dense fog, Gatwick is on 100 meters, London City Airport is on 100 meters and Stansted is on 100 meters,” announced the MET forecast.
There was a total of 1,300 flights at Heathrow, but only 100 were canceled.
Both the air traffic controllers and the pilots could have faced serious troubles because of the low visibility.
The temperatures could reach 0C today, but not everywhere. Fog is also prone to persisting in some areas.
In Scotland, in the northern part of England and in the south of Ireland, low temperatures were encountered too.
Drivers were warned that there will be difficulties on the roads due to the temperatures.
A spokesperson from Heathrow announced the inconvenience and apologized for the delays.
A forecaster from MET announced that bad weather will persist for few more days. Both the traffic and the flights will be affected.
Drivers are encouraged to drive safely, slower and use fog lights when in need.
