As President Elect Donald Trump seems to have trouble finding artists willing to sing at his inauguration, Barack Obama is on the verge of throwing one final big party at the White House with a star studded invitation list.
According to a report from the Washington Post, they will have what they call one final “grown up” party for close friends and donors this Friday, January 6, the last one before they leave the White House.
Among those who have accepted the presidential invitation are Beyonce, Jay-Z, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the Star Wars directors George Lucas and JJ Abrams.
Other famous names on the list are Bradley Cooper, David Letterman, Samuel L. Jackson, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam and Chance the Rapper.
Nobody knows what will be going on behind closed doors at the White House, but it can be expected to be one fun party. All this while Trump’s inauguration still drags on, scheduled to take place on January 19. Even though his team tried to refute rumors that famous singers are refusing to appear, the only acts that are currently known to be present are the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Jackie Evancho from American Idol fame.
They tried approaching Rebecca Ferguson, The X Factor UK winner, who responded, in an open letter, that she will only be there if she is allowed to sing “Strange Fruit.” A Billie Holliday song about racism in the United States.
