Robert Marchand is a 105 years-old man from France that set a new world record. On Wednesday, he managed to ride 14 miles on a bike in just one hour. The result is really impressive given his age.

Inside a Paris indoor track, at the Velodrome National, the Frenchman established the amazing result. He did 92 laps in total.

He wore a yellow and purple cycling suit, yellow glasses and pink helmet as he received a standing ovation from the public.

The Associated Press says the man marked a record for the ones aged 105-plus.

“I did not see the sign warning me I had 10 minutes left. Otherwise, I would have gone faster, I would have posted a better time. I’m now waiting for a rival,” said Robert after the ride.

Bradley Wiggins is the one that holds the record, in 2015 he rode about 34 miles in the same period of time.

Marchand said that he wasn’t there for the win, but for proving that you can ride a bike even if you have 105 years.

The man had a full life. He was born in 1911 and lived through the period of two wars. He was a Firefighter, in the late 40’s he worked in Venezuela as a truck driver and then moved to Canada where he was a lumberjack.

In the 60’s he was in France, where his various jobs did not allow him to practice any sports. At 68, he began cycling again. In 1992, he rode a bike from Moscow to Paris. And then, in 2002, he marked another record, being a 100-year-old that rode 100 kilometers.

The secret to his age and stamina is his daily routine. He doesn’t smoke and only drinks wine very rarely, he consumes fruits and vegetables. He always wakes up at 9 PM and exercises daily.
