Most people believe that the more they work, the more tasks they will solve, but they are wrong. An expert on psychology ran several experiments to prove that less time they work, more efficient they will be.

K. Anders Ericsson discovered that people can work effectively only four or five times a week. People usually do their best and focus the best in the first few days, but after that they lose all efficiency. That does not affect only themselves, but their work and employers as well.

If people are pressured too much, “beyond the time they can really concentrate maximally, you’re very likely to get them to acquire some bad habits,” says Ericsson.

He advises employers to shorten the working week or the working hours and will get better results in no time at all.

A CEO has been doing this for ten years and ever since then he got only positive results. Ryan Carson from Treehouse has a 32-hour working week. After this change, his employees become much more productive. His company is really successful, as it makes millions per year.

In Colorado, a school has taken the example and got a four-day school week. The children’s results were increased by much, they studied more and got higher grades at math and reading. Children were able to concentrate more in class.

Jon Huntsman, Utah’s governor, applied the same theory in 2008 when the big crises affected all America. After he changed the working schedule to 10 hours per day and only four working days a week, the results started to show. People were much happier and really enjoyed the day off.
