Cuba and the United States have signed on Monday an agreement on cooperating against terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering and other international crimes. reported Reuters.

The US-Cuban agreement was reported by Reuters.

The memorandum law enforcement policy continues to normalize the bilateral relations started two years ago by President Barack Obama.

His successor, Donald Trump, will take over the presidential office on Friday.

The President-elect has threatened to end the ‘friendly’ relations between Cuba and the US. This would happen if Havana is not willing to accept the new economic and political concessions.

Apparently, the White House was represented at the ceremony in Havana by the US security adviser deputy Ben Rhodes. He had efficiently contributed to the US-Cuban talks.

Consequently, Trump has designated one of the top managers of his business, Jason Greenblatt, as his main legal advisor and negotiator for ‘sensitive’ international issues.

Most likely, he will review Washington’s policy towards Kosovo, notes Reuters.

United States-Cuba cooperation agreement

Last Thursday, Cuba and the US have announced a cooperation agreement on migration. The document ended a period of two decades. During this period of time, the United States has refused the entry to all Cubans who were managing to reach the American soil.

Barack Obama used his presidential executive powers to constantly improve the relations with Cuba. Some of the issues he solved included the US trade embargo, which can be canceled only by the US Congress.

Also, Donald Trump can use the same powers to cancel any measures taken by his predecessor.

Reuters reminds the 18 agreements in areas such postal services and scientific cooperation to protect the environment and healthcare.

So, the US-Cuban bilateral relations will remain open. The main target will be finding solutions for difficult issues such as the compensation for the nationalization requested by the US.

Another critical issue would the one required by Cuba for the embargo and restore the Cuban sovereignty on the US military base at Guantanamo.
