After the actress passed away last month, every ‘Star Wars’ fan is wondering what will happed to the beloved character Princess Leia. Before her sudden death, Fisher finished filming the eighth part of the franchise, but there are still more parts to come. Fans believe that the character will be recreated digitally.

After all the speculation that have been running on the Internet, the producer of the movie, Lucasfilm, took on Friday to clarify the rumors. In a statement, the producers revealed that they do not plan to do such thing.

They started by saying that although they do not normally respond to rumors, now they wanted to assure fans that the character won’t be recreated digitally.

“Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to ‘Star Wars‘,” said the studio further.

The studio didn’t say what will actually happen to the character, but they did imply that they will struggle to keep her memory. The late actress will be commemorated and the future films will show the respect for her.

The upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film will hit the theaters on December 15. The shooting was done last July and Fisher got to play the character one more time.

Fisher died on December 27 after suffering a major heart attack. The next day her mother, the legendary actress Debbie Reynolds, also died after she could not cope with the loss of her child. Both stars are remembered dearly by fans.
