British Vogue announces its editor-in-chief, Alexandra Shulman resigns from the leading position.
Alexandra Shulman was the editor-in-chief of the popular bible of fashion for the past 25 years.
However, in June, the 59-year-old journalist decided to leave the publication.
The longest serving editor in British Vogue history became an editor-in-chief in 1992.
Before Vogue, Schulman worked for Tatler, The Sunday Telegraph, and GQ.
“It was very hard to find a rational reason for my departure.”
“Without a doubt, this is a fascinating and satisfying job.”
“But, last fall, I realized I want to experiment a different life and I can’t wait to achieve a separate future from Vogue”, declared Alexandra.
The famous editor announces the surprising news on British Vogue’s Instagram page.
For now, the magazine will not publish any announcement regarding the successor of Alexandra.
In November, Schulman shocked the fashion industry with the most trenchant decision.
The British journalist decided to ban anorexic models from the pages of her magazine.
Instead, she will present exclusive fashion items by using real women in her pictorials.
Since she took the reign of the magazine, the number of issues grew to 200.000.
However, Vogue was always labeled as extremely belligerent when it comes to a woman’s body.
No one published anything about dieting or cosmetic procedures.
In 2009, Schulman issued a letter sent to all A-list designers, in which she told Vogue did nothing but encourage models to become unhealthy.
Unfortunately, in many times, her work was less appreciated and recognized than Anna Wintour’s.
