After the huge success with ‘Gilmore Girls’, Alexis Bledel is ready for a new show, that is so much different than her previous series.

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ will star Alexis Bledel among Elizabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes and others. The series offer the story of women that are more than just wives or servants, but they are “handmaids”. The story is placed in the Republic of Gilead.

Moss stars as Offred, who is a handmaid and who once had a husband and a child that were taken from her.

The first trailer for the series was just revealed. Offred narrates ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. She is seen wearing a bonnet and a garb. The character has to go through an abuse.

Alexis’ character is seen with a face mask as the terror can be seen on her face.

Joseph Fiennes plays the Commander who owns Offred. She is used by him to have babies, as his wife can’t. The actor said:” It’s like a Shakespeare play in that it remains timeless in its context”.

The series are inspired by Margaret Atwood’s novel and are adapted by Hulu. It will premiere on April 26 and it will have a total of 10 episodes.

Showrunner Bruce Miller said “every time someone reads it, it’s timely”. He added that even though there is a single novel,  they see “a further horizon” every time.

Everyone is excited about the new show, to see how the characters will come to life 30 years after the novel was released.

This isn’t the first time the novel comes to life, it was transformed into a movie, a ballet.
