The civil rights leader and rep. John Lewis weighs on the mater that concerns every American now: will Donald Trump make a good president or not?
In an interview with NBC News, the Georgia Congressman expressed his opinion.
Lewis, like many others, thinks the President-elect is not “legitimate” for the position. His opinion was developed after hearing about the Russian president Vladimir Putin’s implication in the elections.
“I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton,” declared Lewis.
The statesman also said that he won’t attend Trump’s inauguration on January 20. this will be the first time when he doesn’t attend such event since he came to Washington. He says that it feels wrong to do it, when he is disapproving of Trump’s position.
When asked whether he is open for a relationship with the future president, Lewis said that he does believe in forgiveness, but “it’s going to be very difficult.”
Other Democrats are also thinking the same way about Trump, while others have moved on. Senator Joe Manchin was asked if he thinks Trump is a “legitimate” president. Manchin said “absolutely. We’ve got to move on. We’ve got to come together as a country.”
Regarding the rumors about the implication the Russians had in the elections, the President-elect did imply that Moscow had something to do with it.
Many people are furious about about the involvement and still think Trump is not right for the position. The president will take over the office in less than a week and plans on changing things right away. One of the first things on the list are repealing Obamacare and start discussions about building the wall over the Mexican border.
