Russian Ambassador’s murderer was a member of Al-Qaeda

The Russian Ambassador who held his last speech during Ankara photo exhibition is supposed to have been murdered by a member of the Syrian branch of Al-Qaida.

The former policeman who murdered Russia’s ambassador to Turkey was a member of al-Nusra Front, the Syrian branch of Al-Qaida terrorist network, as the official sources quoted by the Israeli website DEBKAfile regarding the military intelligence have declared.

Mevlut Mert Altinas, a former agent of the Turkish police forces, who was aged 22, approached the Russian Ambassador, Andrei Karlov, from behind and shot the diplomat five times as he was delivering a speech at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Ankara.

After the murder, the individual shouted with rage: ‘We die in Aleppo, you will die here!’

The terrorist added: ‘I have sworn to die as martyrs … this is an act of revenge for Syria and Aleppo. Until there will be peace, you will not be safe. Only death will take me out of here.’

The uttered phrase contains fragments from the terrorist hymn of al-Nusrat Front (Jabhat Fateh al-Sham Fateh – The Front for Conquering the Levant), which is part of Al-Qaida terrorist network.

It is not clear if the killer was a member of the Turkish security authorities to protect the Russian ambassador or if he is allowed to enter because he was known by the guardians.

Turkish media reported that the killer had been a police officer until July, when he was dismissed because of the attempted coup that aimed the Administration Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to some sources, the terrorist managed to enter the art gallery with a fake police badge.
