Despite the fact, Christmas is around the corner toy stores from Venezuela have nothing but empty shelves to offer their customers.

According to experts, the unusual phenomenon was generated by a severe financial crisis. The issue amplified even more after the Venezuelan government decided to confiscate four million toys in order to commercialize the products to poor families, in exchange of a symbolic price.

Unfortunately, this is not Santa’s shop from the North Pole, but a storage owned by Venezuela’s largest toy producer.

Now all the merchandise was confiscated by the government, who accused the company of keeping the products under the wraps leaving the shelves empty, in order to increase their prices right before Christmas.

‘We disclosed a robbery case which targets four millions of toys. Due to our laws, children will receive a least one Christmas gift. We are Christ’s personal help’, affirmed President Nicolas Maduro.

According to the Venezuelan tradition, baby Jesus and Santa brings toys only to well-behaved children.

‘The toy mission was initiated last week. The officers remained at the headquarters overnight. The toys will be commercialized for a much cheaper price by the poor families’, said CNN correspondent Rafael Romo.

Meanwhile, the measure will leave all toy stores from Venezuela without products, just two weeks before Christmas.

So, the Venezuelan state leader was labeled by his people as ‘Grinch’, the character who stole Christmas in a popular movie for children. His gesture infuriated the Venezuelan opposition who labeled his action as a robbery.

The ‘toy situation’ is Venezuela’s last concern, taking into consideration the state’s financial situation.
