Kashima Antlers is the first finalist of the Club World Cup.

Wednesday, during the first semifinal, the Japanese booked a place in the Club World Cup, beating the Colombian team Atletico Nacional 3-0 in the confrontation.

‘We hit the bar and we had clear chances and those would have given use the composure to play our game’, Atletico coach Reinaldo Rueda said. ‘We’re very sad’, he added.

Colombians were considered favorites and seriously dominated the game, but Kashima Antlers opened the score in the first half, thanks to a penalty.

They have scored twice in the final game, taking advantage of two strong counterattacks, through Endo and Suzuki.

Kashima Antlers will face on Sunday, during the big final of the competition, the winner between Real Madrid and Club America. The match will be played on Thursday.

Also, on Wednesday, during the match fought for the 5^th place, South Koreans playing for Jeonbuk Hyundai scored 4-1 against the South Africans from Mamelodi Sundowns.

This is the first time in history when an Asian team reaches the World Cup’s final. The competition has been dominated so far by European and South American football teams.

Only on few occasions, in 2010 and 2013, two African teams happened to appear as intruders in the World’s Cup finals.

In 2010, Mazembe lost the final to Inter Milan, 0-3, and in 2013, Raja Casablanca lost the final with Bayern Munich, 0-2.

The last two editions of Club World Cup have been won by Spanish teams. In 2014, Real Madrid defeated San Lorenzo, 2-0. Last year, Barcelona won in front of River Plate 3-0.
