This place really exists: we’re talking about a hotel which is both in France and in Switzerland.

Arbez Hotel is located in the town of La Cure, at the French-Swiss border. In fact, the borderline crosses right through the building, as informed Metro.co.uk.

This means that if guests decide to reserve a room here, they can literally sleep in two different countries simultaneously. Fascinating, isn’t it?

If you want to spend your honeymoon here, there is a room in which the border runs right through the center of the bed. Thus, you can sleep in France, you lover can rest in Switzerland – and then, you can exchange places.

The hotel restaurant is also divided: the corner where you can choose specific culinary specialties from France or from Swiss.

Arbez hotel not just has a fascinating geographical position but also an interesting history.

It was built before the current border between France and Switzerland came into force in 1862 and the building was originally used as a grocery store.

During the Second World War, it was used as a shelter for refugees and soldiers who fought in the French resistance – for it was a neutral region.

In 1921, Jean-Jules Arbeze bought the property and turned it into a hotel. In this way, it became the first building where you can relax simultaneously in two different countries.
