More than 300 people were arrested in Venezuela, following violent protests against the withdrawal of the national banknote of 100 bolivars, writes Reuters.

The massive protests were triggered by the leader of Caracas regarding the decision of keeping the bill in circulation until January 2017.

Meanwhile, Venezuela seems to sink into the crisis more and more.

About 300 people were arrested, recently, after violent protests erupted in several cities of the state.

Among the detainees, there are also several leaders and members of the opposition party ‘People’s Will and Justice First’.

The group was taken by the officers after President Nicolas Maduro accused them of following US’ orders to incite chaos.

‘Do not come and tell me that they are political prisoners (…). In Venezuela there are the two parties of ‘gringos’ in Venezuela’, stated Maduro, accusing President Barack Obama that he wants to trigger a coup in Caracas before his mandate expires.

Last week, Nicolas Maduro, the successor of Hugo Chavez, announced the recall of the 100 bolivars bills before putting into circulation the new banknotes.

The decision generated huge queues in front of the banks, plundering stores at anti-government protests and at least one death.

The Venezuelan President announced on Saturday that the 100 bolivars banknotes will be used until January 2.

The violence diminished but there are still information regarding several robbery cases in Ciudad Bolivar, in the southern area of the country.
