Pokemon Go, first in top Google searches in 2016

Pokemon Go was the most popular search this year in the global online engine Google, according to a ranking released on Wednesday by the Internet giant, according to AFP.

The second major search was Apple iPhone 7, launched in September, followed by Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election in November, and the singer Prince, who died in April.

Donald Trump is the first among the most popular personalities on Google, ahead of his rival in the election campaign, the Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Regarding topical issues that have interested the Internauts, the US presidential election was at the forefront of searches, followed by the Olympics and Brexit.

Google publishes the list of global trends each year, as well as separate lists for each country summarizing the major areas of the internauts.

In France, Pokemon Go was number two this year, ranked second in the top searches on Google, after the European football Championship, but before Le Tour de France at cycling, the Olympics and the US presidential election.

On the social network Facebook, which published its own list in early December, the US presidential election and Brazilian politics were the most discussed topics in 2016 on a worldwide scale. Pokemon Go was located on the third position in the Facebook ranking.

In 2015, most popular search on Google was Pixwords. The events of 2015 that generated the most interest through searches on Google are the tragedy of Charlie Hebdo, Fast and Furious 7, Eurovision, Australian Open, US Open, Wimbledon, Fifty Shades of Grey and Untold Music Festival.
