After the president had his sworn-in ceremony, Donald Trump and his family attended the Freedom Ball. The First Lady, Melania, got all the attention with her white dress.
After he took the stage, Trump and his wife got to have their first dance as the First couple. A version of “My Way”, by Frank Sinatra played. Soon, Donald and Melania were joined by the Vice President, Mike Pence and his wife, Karen. The children of the two couples joined too.
“So now it’s a tremendous honor to have the first dance with Melania,” said Trump.
The First Lady wore a white gown, created by Herve Pierre. The dress was off-the-shoulder, had a thigh-high slit and a thin red cord around the waist. Like her daytime look, Melania opted for a simple, yet sophisticated look. During the sworn-in ceremony, Melania wore a baby-blue ensemble created by Ralph Lauren.
Melania wasn’t the only one that caught lots of attention at the Freedom Ball, Ivanka Trump, Donald’s oldest daughter, wore a champagne dress. Her gown was created by Carolina Herrera and featured a v-neck and long sleeves. During the inaugural day, Ivanka wore a white Oscar de la Renta pantsuit.
She joined her father on stage and danced with her husband, Jared Kushner.
Herve Pierre is a former designer at Carolina Herrera. Melania’s choice to wear an unknown designer is unexpected, as Herrera declared before that she would be honored to dress her. However, with her fashion choices from the first days as the First Lady, Melania wants mark the “return to the time-honored establishment and the spirit of classic luxury embraced by so many White Houses past.”
This was the first ball from the total of tree. All eyes are on the presidential couple, their children and fashion choices.
