Bill and Hillary Clinton, the former Democratic rival of the President-elect Donald Trump during the election for the White House, plan to attend the inauguration ceremony of the billionaire on January 20 in Washington.
The information comes shortly after former US President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, have announced they will attend the event.
“They are happy to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power – a hallmark of American democracy – and the investiture of President Trump and Vice President (Mike) Pence”, indicated in a statement, a spokesman for George W . Bush, US president between 2001 and 2009.
Hillary Clinton avoided appearing in public at Trump’s unexpected victory in November.
As a former president and former first lady, Clinton and his wife had to make a difficult decision whether to participate or not.
In total, three of the four still alive former American presidents will witness Trump’s investiture: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush.
In December, the former Democratic president Jimmy Carter, aged 92, has confirmed his participation in the ceremony.
Only George H. W. Bush (92 years), who is in a fragile condition, will be absent.
US President-elect Donald Trump will install at the White House on January 20. The event will be opened by a grand parade.
No less than 8.000 people from 40 organizations, from veterans to Scouts, will attend the march and the installation ceremony, according to Washington Post.
The parade will take place on January 20 in the honor of the 45th president and will include all the armed forces and several high schools or universities. Several schools have promised to send representatives.
