NBA"s Matt Bonner retires

Matt Bonner had a 12 years career in NBA, but now he decided it was time to step up of the flashlight. The player gave the news to his fans through a video posted on YouTube. On the Players’ Tribune he also said a few words.

He thanks for all the support he has beneficed from all these years. He is truly humbled by that. He says paying for all of these teams was amazing and he has loved every minute of it. He also added that he hopes people will support him in the future as well and everything he will do after basketball.

Now he is set to be a studio analyst for Spurs TV as a report claims.

For four years, he played at the University of Florida and in 2003 he was named senior in the ALL-SEC team. From 2003 until 2004 he played for the Italian League and then he played two seasons at the Raptors. That’s how his NBA career took off. At the San Antonio Spurs he spent ten years. In 2007 and 2014 he won NBA titles alongside his team.

During the last season, he played 30 games. Then, he wasn’t able to find a new team for the offseason.

It is a large possibility Bonner wasn’t ready for his retirement after all. “I’m going to fight to play one more year,” said the player in September 2016 in an interview.

For Spurs, he was an important player and had 41.4% in the field goal. He won two titles with this team and the fact he played for so long definitely counts.
