The First Lady says goodbye to the White House on social media

The final hours for the president couple at the White House have come. Both Barack and Michelle Obama say their farewells to the place they have lived in for the past eight years. Now, the First Lady posted a series of tweets to say her goodbye.

“Being your First Lady has been the honor of a lifetime. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. -mo,” wrote Michelle on her social media accounts. She added a picture of her and her husband watching the garden of the White House as they hugged each other.

Before she posted the photo, Michelle shared a video of her walking through the White House one more time with the family’s two dogs: Sunny and Bo. She captioned it: “Taking it on one last walk through the People’s House”.

Starting from the Cross Hall, Michelle and the dogs made their way to the first floor, to the East Room, then Green Room, Blue Room and the Red Room.

On Wednesday, Obama held his last press conference as a president. He gave a scoop of his plans after he leaves the White House. He wants to start with a vacation, start writing a book and of course, spend as much time with his family. They will continue to live in Washington.

Obama also revealed his daughters’ reaction to the election results and said that, indeed, they were disappointed, but he and his wife tried to reassure them that everything will be fine and that there is hope.

“At my core, I think we’re going to be OK,” said the president.

On Friday, Obama, Michelle and the daughters will go to Palm Springs for a much-needed vacation.

Everybody feels sad now that the two will no longer be in charge. Their presence will be greatly missed at the White House. Even as they go, they give people hope that things will turn out for the best.
