Winston Churchill statue back in the Oval Office

As President Donald Trump installed in the Oval Office, he decided he needs to do one change: bring back the statue of Winston Churchill’s bust. Barack Obama got rid of that in 2009.

At first they denied that the sculpture was removed, but then it was confirmed that they sent it to the British Embassy.

As Trump was taking his first actions and signing the first documents as president, pictures show the sculpture placed on a table in the back.

This isn’t the only change Trump did in the office. He also rearranged the furniture, added gold curtains and has a brand new chair behind the Resolute Desk.

Trump revealed before that he admired the former British Prime Minister: “I love Winston Churchill, I love the guy”.

Back in 2009, when Obama removed the statue, some were offended. The 44^th president defended his decision in a trip to the United Kingdom. Boris Johnson, foreign secretary, called the gesture “ancestral dislike of the British Empire.”

According to reports, Boris Johnson met with Donald Trump’ son-in-law and advisor, Jared Kushner and with Steven Bannon and he was asked to return the bust.

Theresa May, who will visit the new president soon, seemed happy about Trump’s decision of displaying the bust. A spokesperson revealed that she is “happy to loan the Churchill bust to the White House and will be delighted to view it on display when she visits.”

Many officials seemed pleased with Trump’s decision of bringing back the bust.

Martin Luther King’s bust is also in the Oval Office, right where Obama left it.
