Arnold Schwarzenegger met Pope Francis in Vatican

The American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger met the Pope on Wednesday, in Vatican, during the general weekly audience of the Pontiff.

The Hollywoodian star traveled to Vatican to promote an ecologist initiative.

The major target is the reduction of carbon emissions and raising awareness of the population on global warming issues.

After the meeting, the actor has published on his Facebook account a picture taken during his meeting with Pope Francis.

‘It has been a great honor for me to meet Pope Francis. I am a big fan of his. Not only he is a great leader of the Catholic Church, but also a fantastic supporter of all human beings’, stated Schwarzenegger.

This was not Arnold’s first meeting with a Pontiff

Also, the actor had previously met the mourned John Paul II back in 1983.

Arnold’s purpose for the visit was promoting ‘R 20 – Regions of Climate Action’, an NGO he founded in 2010.

California’s former governor wants to help all the local governments worldwide to develop.

Also, his target is to disseminate the environmentally friendly projects that will help to improve the economic development.

Furthermore, Arnold presented the Pontiff his work with the organization.

The Austrian politician has originally gained his worldwide fame as an actor and bodybuilder.

After that, he became the Governor of California and kept his position from 2003 to 2011.

During his two mandates, the state of California has issued higher standards regarding the gas emissions.

Also, Arnold fought for the role of local governments in US’ struggle of overcoming the environmental issues.
