Amazing discovery: People somehow remember their native language even though they have never spoke it

The ability of children to learn the language they are constantly hearing is incredible.

Starting from the first months of life, children start to learn how to pronounce the words.

Apparently, they do not forget about this ability for as long as they’re living, according to some research.

A new study has shown that a child moved to another country at an early age will remember for the rest of his life certain words.

Dr. Jiyou Choi and his colleagues from Hanyang University, Seoul, have conducted some tests. Some adults born in Holand and adopted by South Korean families have been studied.

Researchers have offered the adults a series of consonants to pronounce. Of course, the letters were extremely different from those spoken in Holand.

The experts have compared people’s ability to pronounce the consonants with another group of people, that did not learn the Korean language during their childhood.

As a result, both groups had the same results before being prepared.

However, after a minimum preparation that happened years ago, during their childhood, the adopted adults have surprised the researchers.

Beyond all expectations

The study is the first one proving that people who had been adopted during their early childhood had never learned their native language. Obviously! Somehow, they all had some knowledge of the language of the country they were born in.

‘The children that had been adopted in their early childhood normally forget their maternal language.

Although, they may remember some linguistic traits that will help them learn easier that specific language when reaching maturity,’ said one of the authors of the study.
