The former leader of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont and four ministers of his cabinet are currently the targets of a European arrest warrant, issued by a judge, has announced on Sunday a prosecutor from Brussels.

The five Catalans have surrendered to the authorities on Sunday morning

Now, it’s the responsibility of another jurisdiction to manage the warrant within the following 15 days.

According to the Spanish press, Carles Puigdemont and his counselors are not allowed to leave Belgium without the consent of a judge.

They are also required by law to provide a real address and to personally attend all the legal hearings, the Brussels Prosecutor’s Office has stated.

Both the former Catalan leader and his ministers conducted their court hearings separately but left together from the Prosecutor’s Office in a minibus.

At the exit, the five did not make any statement in front of the 50 journalists.

Puigdemont fled to Belgium last week, shortly after Spanish prosecutors have filed charges against all the 14 members of the Catalan regional government for initiating the rebellion against the state.

A Spanish judge has issued European arrest warrants Friday night after Puigdemont and four other former ministers arrived on Thursday in Madrid to testify in front of the Spanish judges in the hearing related to the independence referendum held illegally in Catalonia.
