Israeli archaeologists have recently discovered near Tel Aviv a unique earthen vessel, which has in the top part a human figurine sitting in the ‘thinker’ position. The artifact is nearly 4,000 years old, announced on Wednesday the Israeli authorities.

The recipient dating back from about 3,800 years ago has been exhumed in Yehud, during the excavations initiated by a construction firm.

18 centimeters tall, the vessel was something typical for the region during the Bronze Age. The neck of the vessel was used as trunk for the character, who according to archaeologists is a man with added arms, legs and figure.

In the same place with the vessel, the historians also discovered numerous daggers, an ax and arrowheads, which appear to have been made as funerary offerings for an old respected member of the community.

‘The level of precision and attention given to create the sculpture nearly 4,000 years ago is very impressive’, said the manager of the site Gilad Itachi, quoted by the archaeological authorities.

However, according to Gilad Itachi, it is quite impossible to determine who the deceased truly was or who were the people who placed the funeral offerings on his tomb.
