The German Institute for Renewable Energies (IWR) released a new report on global emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). According to the German Institute for Renewable Energies, emissions increased by 2.5% in 2011, reaching a world record of 34 billion tons.
‘If this trend is maintained, the total carbon dioxide emissions will be increased by 20% until 2020, exceeding 40 billion tons’, said Norbert Allnoch, IWR director.
China is ranked first in the top CO2 emitters, with 8.9 billion tons this year, from 8.3 billion tons emitted in 2010. The US was ranked number 2, with 6 billion tons, and the following places are occupied by India, Russia, Japan and Germany.
The German Institute for Renewable Energy has repeatedly proposed during the last decade, various measures that are supposed to reduce the use of fossil fuels and stabilize global emissions of carbon dioxide. IWR officials proposed setting a linkage between the emissions of each country and the obligatory investments in renewable energy and climate protection equipment.
Biggest contributors to global warming:
- China 23.43 %
- S. 14.69 %
- India 5.70 %
- Russian Federation 4.87 %
- Brazil 4.17 %
- Japan 3.61 %
- Indonesia 2.31 %
- Germany 2.23 %
- Korea 1.75 %
- Canada 57 %
- Iran 1.57 %
Global warming is the phenomenon of continuous growth of average temperatures of the atmosphere around the Earth. Global warming phenomenon has always existed in Earth’s history and was associated with the cosmic phenomenon of maximum solar.
The average air temperature near the Earth’s surface has increased by 0.74 ± 0.18 ° C during the last century.
