Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with actress Meghan Markle. However, he criticized the media for ‘the tide of abuse and harassment’ against her, in a press release to Kensington Palace, reports BBC News.

Prince Harry has a relationship with actress Meghan Markle for a few months now, known for her role in the series ‘Suits’. It is the first official statement that Prince Harry made on the matter after a period in which the media speculated and written about the affair between the two.

In a press release sent by the Kensington Palace, Prince Harry wanted to criticize the media for the way it spoke about his new girlfriend. Prince Harry though this rarely takes formal measures related to the ‘stories’ in the press, according to BBC News. ‘But last week was exceeded,’ reads the declaration transmitted.

‘His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, was the subject of a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of them were very public – defamation on the front page of a national newspaper, the subtleties of racist comments and overt racism and sexism in social media.’

‘Others were hidden from the public – legal efforts to take away newspapers defamatory stories; mother, photographers had to sneak through to get to the door of her house; reporters and photographers attempts to enter illegally into the house and call police data; substantial bribes offered by the former boyfriend of actress newspapers; the bombing of each friend, colleague and dear person in her life.’

Prince Harry, aged 32, had an agitated relationship with the media, increasing aware of the impact that had involved the media in the life of his mother, Princess Diana, and the declaration transmitted says he was concerned for the safety of his girlfriend and that he is ‘very disappointed that failed to protect her,’ notes BBC News journalists.
