The good news does not cease to appear for Vladimir Putin. Just days after his ‘buddy’ Donald Trump defeated Kremlin rival Hillary Clinton and the Russian troops are on the verge of gaining absolute control over Syria, on Sunday two pro-Russian politicians won the presidential elections in Moldova and Bulgaria

The two new presidents are the new allies of Moscow in its battle of regaining ultimate influence in certain regions of Eastern Europe.

While the Russian Government can be labeled as ‘victorious’, the obvious loser of these recent events seems to be the European Union.

In the former Soviet republic, socialist Dodon defeated pro-European Maia Sandu with a result of 55.5%.

In Bulgaria, socialist Rumen Radev won the elections, causing the resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

According to US media, the results are a literal breath of fresh air for most Moldovan and Bulgarian citizens who were dreaming of this for more than five decades: to solidify their relations with their eastern neighbor.

‘I will dramatically improve the relations between Moldova and Russia.’, said Dodon for The Wall Street Journal right before the election.

‘These relations are very important for the citizens of our country.’, declared the pro-Russian.

Both Moldova and Bulgaria were members of the Warsaw Pact.

However, Mr. Radev highlighted his interest in eliminating the sanctions imposed by the European Union to Russia.

In former soviet republic Moldova, Mr. Dodon wishes to revoke the pact with EU and rebuild the commercial ties with Moscow.
