Two-million-dollar worth of gold ends up into the Swiss sewage system every single year.

A national research institute took samples from pipelines and water treatment plants, and concluded that the Swiss are throwing 40 kilograms of gold annually.

The experts believe the responsible are the manufacturers of luxury jewelry and watches who throw the debris into the sewage network.

Moreover, the same research team discovered that in this particular area where most manufacturers established their headquarters and shops, the amount of gold was so significant, they could collect it.

It would, indeed, be a nasty job

However, besides for gold, the report shows, the Swiss sewage becomes more and more crowded as the years go by, because annually nearly 3.000 kilograms of silver are being thrown away.
