The President of Finland, set to become a father at the age of 69

Sauli Niinisto, the 69-year-old President of Finland, will officially become a father again, according to an announcement released on Monday by the Finnish Presidency’s communications department, .


The baby is set to arrive in February, 2018. Finnish and the future mother is the president’s second wife, 40-years-old Jenni Haukio.


The par tied the knot in 2009, three years before Sauli Niinisto was elected as president.


His first wife, who gave him two sons, died in a car crash in 1995.


Via a statement made public by the Presidential Administration, the Niinisto spouses claim they were tying for so long and that they had “gone through many difficulties over the years” in order to make their dream come true.


After they found out, “there were some delicate issues in the early days of pregnancy, but now we can share this news” said Niinisto.


Sauli Niinisto will run for a new presidential term of six years in the 2018 election.


Following Monday’s announcement, the Finnish social environment have published various congratulatory messages on President Sauli Niinisto’s Facebook page, but also on other social networks, YLE television public broadcaster has announced.


Sauli Niinisto took the office on 1st March 2012, when he became the first president promoted by his party at Juho Kusti Paasikivi, whose term ended in 1956.


Educated to become a lawyer, Niinistö was the country’s financial minister between 1996 and 2003 a candidate of the National Coalition Party in the 2006 presidential election.


He was the president of the Finnish parliament between 2007 and 2011 and the EPP president in 2002.


He is also the president of the Finnish Football Association
