Thousands of Britons have been infected with HIV and Hepatitis C after conducting a series of blood transfusions during former UK premier Margaret Thatcher’s term.

During that era, the scandal was completely covered up but an investigation conducted recently by Sky News exposed the shocking magnitude of the case.

Margaret Thatcher’s government ministers tried to cover the contaminated blood scandal which led to the deaths of over 2.400 people from AIDS and Hepatitis C, show the recently declassified documents.

The documents show that ministers have sought to reduce every single financial aid which the victims were supposed to receive.

More than 4.000 British hemophiliacs received hepatitis C and HIV-contaminated blood during the 1970-1980 period.

The tragedy was generated after the UK took over the US Factor VIII substance due to a blood deficit.

The “Factor VIII” blood was produced by several donors, including prostitutes, prisoners, and drug users, most of them paid for the contribution

In September this year, a judge allowed over 500 victims to sue the government for damages, rejecting the Health Department’s attempts to delay the action.
