Jimmy Kimmel is the new host of the Academy Awards

It’s official: the corky comedian will host the 89^th edition of the Academy Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel: this is not Kimmel’s first rodeo when it comes to hosting large-scale events. The TV host presented the Emmy Awards twice and he also hosted the ESPY Awards in the past.

The happy news was disclosed by the Oscar’s ‘home’ for the next 11 years, ABC. According to the American press, the broadcasting giant renewed the contract with the Academy of Motion Pictures in summer.

‘Yes, I am hosting the Oscars. This is not a prank. And if it is, my revenge on the academy will be terrible and sweet’, confessed Jimmy on his Twitter page

The 89^th edition of the Oscars is set to take place on February 26^th. The responsible with the production part is none other than Pearl Street Films CEO Michael de Luca and American movie producer Jennifer Todd.

The edition from last year was presented by comedian Chris Rock and reported disappointing numbers in the television audience sector.

Kimmel better select his lines with an increased attention, especially because the last edition of the Emmy’s his performance drew the attention of merely 11.3 million viewers.

2017 seems quite promising for Jimmy, who found out that his wife Molly is expecting their second child.

The announcement was made by the proud daddy on Jimmy Kimmel Live: ‘Also, my wife is hosting a baby inside her body. So that’s what’s coming.’

Molly and Jimmy already have a two-year-old girl named Jane, who will become a bigger sister.
