Jorge Mendes, the manager of superstar soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, has recently declared that the player refused an offer from a Chinese soccer club which would have seen them pay Real Madrid 300 million dollars for the services of the Portuguese attacker and shell out a salary of more than 100 million euros a year.

“Money is not everything; the Spanish club is his life,” Mendes said to Sky Sports Italia. “The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players, but then again it is impossible to go for Ronaldo. Cristiano is the best player in the world and best ever. It is normal to have some offers. He won the European Championship with Portugal, it’s like winning the Italian league with Genoa: they were not the favorite.”

If the transfer offer were to go through it would have made forgotten the world record 93,2 million pounds Juventus Torino got by selling Paul Pogba to Manchester United this Summer.

The winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or in November, the fourth time he gets this honor, Ronaldo, has a salary of almost 42 million dollars a year at the Spanish club, where he got after an 80 million pound deal that took place in 2009.

This news from Ronaldo’s agent comes days after the former striker of Manchester City, Carlos Tevez, signed a 615,000 pounds a week deal with Shanghai Shenhua and Chelsea’s versatile attacking midfielder Oscar moved to Shanghai SIPG for a deal of 52 million pounds.
