In a statement released this Thursday, Honda Motor said that about 650,000 Odyssey minivans will retreat from the US. The ones that are going to be recalled are the 2011 and the 2016 models.

The reason why they have decided to do this is the seats in the back may not lock if a crash occurs.

Until now, no injury or crash was reported for this problem. The division from the US wants to take this measure for the customer’s safety.

Two recalls will take place. The first one features 2011 and 2016 models of the Odyssey minivans, while the other one includes about 7,600 models from 2016.

In Mexico and Canada will be recalled some vans as well. Honda did not release what number of vehicles are involved.

Certain conditions might lead to the inability of the seats in the back to be locked during a crash. This could seriously threat the lives of customers. Even if there weren’t any accusations until now, Honda wants to make sure that its products won’t risk the lives of people.

In February, the majority of the owners will be informed about the recall.

Regarding its current problem, Honda said that the issue was informed through warranty claims. The cars will be repaired for free.

The parts needed for the repair won’t be available until this spring.

Honda is a Japanese based multinational conglomerate. It is known for its automobiles especially.
