New Year’s Eve dress code: most inspired outfits

Charity balls, New Year’s Eve parties, dinners with friends or opera, ballet or classical music concerts – this winter offers more reasons for shopping than any other season.

And not just any shopping, but dedicated to fabulous outfits, dresses in translucent materials, with special accessories to match.

Biggest fashion designers have prepared special collections, focused on satin, maxi dresses and generous necklines.

Dolce & Gabbana comes after several consecutive seasons of wearing lace and Sicilian heritage and turns the attention to… sparkling disco balls. In fact, the whole new collection seems to shout: ‘Party!!!’ with bright and bold creations, opulent accessories, large stones and colored or floral embroidery.

Italians Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana wanted this collection to meet ‘every woman’s dream of becoming a princess’.

Saint Laurent, Michael Kors and Balenciaga also bet on sequins, metallic accents or small pocket mirrors which create light games, both on the podium and beyond. They apparently matched the outfits with the weather outside.

In contrast, there are some designers who wanted to heat up the situation and chose bright colors like bloody red or green. Some chose the delicate touch of satin and created outfits that remind us of underwear and sleepwear.

Worn at first behind the scenes, behind closed doors, maxi dresses à la Alberta Ferretti, the midi ones paired with leather corsets as Louis Vuitton or those on a shoulder as Ralph Lauren are all in the foreground now.

A satin dress will definitely be the star of the party, especially if the neckline is highlighted by a short leather corset.

Another material that is ideal for parties this season is velvet, which has also been the star of many collections in autumn-winter.

Making a summary, the recipe for a perfect winter outfit must ‘tick’ one or two of the following ingredients: shine, velvet, V-necked or satin.
