The terrorists have killed six people in a bomb blast.

All the victims were police officers, who were staying near a vehicle when the exploding device went off near a bin. Four other civilians were injured.

The bloodied dead bodies of several officers were lying next to police vehicles that had been stationed near the trash can.

The explosion, which occurred near a government building situated in the middle-class neighborhood of Cairo, was the latest from a string of security events plotted by Islamists in Egypt.

The interior ministry said in a statement the explosion took place next a checkpoint, killing three conscripts, a low ranking officer and two policemen.

Eyewitness Ahmed Al-Deeb described the scene as a literal carnage, with dying and dead officers lying next to completely wrecked automobiles.

During the blast, one of the officers lost his legs and had fragments of his torso spread all over the sideway, reports Reuters Television.

The militants from November 4th killed an Egyptian general, near his home in North Sinai during an assault for which the liability was claimed by Islamic State.

He was the second military officer from his authority to be shot dead in the last weeks.

Police and mine-clearance experts searched the area thoroughly to find other possible explosive devices.

Egyptian security forces have been targeted by frequent attacks since Islamist President Mohamed Morsi’s dismissal in 2013 by the military, following mass protests that demanded his removal.
