St Petersburg: first images from the metro of horrors

On Monday afternoon, the Russian city of Sankt Petersburg experienced the bloodiest attack in history.

Russian citizen Akbarzhon Jalilov installed two DIY exploding devices in two different metro stations, causing the death of 14 and the injuring of 50.

Among the victims there were also children, who were desperately looking for their parents during the massive chaos.

Although the evidences are not 100% clear, the Russian intelligence services believe the 22-year-old Kyrgyzstan-born was constantly communicating with the leaders of ISIS, who convinced him to go further with the plan.

According to the authorities, shortly after the second exploding device was activated, Jalilov wanted to activate the third one but his plans were ruined by the poor timing.

Despite the fact the attack was not claimed, ISIS and its adepts are celebrating the damages on social media.

The surveillance cameras surprised Jalilov while he was making his way into the crowd wearing a red Parka jacket, a green beanie and glasses.

The man was visibly anxious and struggling to blend into the audience.

Shortly after he switched carriages, the first exploding device destroyed everything in its range.

‘All regional departments of the Interior Ministry, FSB and Russian Guards have received pictures and descriptions for two alleged terrorists. Despite this, we do not exclude that it was a group’, declared the Russian Interior Ministry.
