Thousands of residents established on New Zealand’s Coast were evacuated by the authorities on Thursday

The authorities evacuated as many as possible in order to protect them from the Cook Cyclone – the most violent storm that will strike New Zealand from the last 50 years.

Several areas were evacuated, especially the settlements from the shore.

Many schools and universities were shut down and the population was urged to cancel any potential trip.

However, the meteorologists are optimistic regarding the trajectory of the cyclone, which will avoid the city of Auckland – New Zealand’s largest settlement.

‘It seems that the city will be protected’, declared the mayor of Auckland Phil Goff.

The most important airline Air New Zealand canceled most of their flights, while the army was mobilized by the government to protect and rescue.

The massive is expected to hit New Zealand this night and tomorrow to reach the capital of Wellington.

In 1968, New Zealand confronted with another calamity

The Giselle cyclone destroyed a ferry and killed 53.

Last week, another violent cyclone that struck Australia – Debbie – was also felt in some areas from New Zealand.

Debbie caused numerous material damages and floods in the city of Edgecumbe.

Most areas in New Zealand already declared their state of emergency after the floods and the land slips destroyed the infrastructure.

Most locals hurried to make provisions.
