Boeing just tested its gigantic new plane, the Dreamliner 787-10. This is their largest model from the Dreamliner line so far and just took its successful first fly test yesterday.
According to the pilots, the plane flew very well and performed exactly as expected.
This is the third plane that is part of the Dreamliners and costs roughly 312 million dollars.
But the Dreamliner was not the only one that was tested yesterday. Antonov An-132D is created in collaboration with Saudi Arabia and was created for military transport. It also went though the flight test along with the Airbus A319neo. From all three, by far the most important fly test was the one of the Dreamliner.
The manufacture of the latter took place in South Carolina because it is such a large model. This is the first plane they manufactured in a state other than Washington and is not unionized.
President Donald Trump visited Boeing’s factory a while ago, where he made a couple of promises, including the boost of the manufacture in the US. He also threatened to punish the firms that choose to move their jobs in other countries.
For the Dreamliner, Boeing got pieces from firms abroad. The majority of them were produced in China, France, Italy and others. Trump did not like this and that’s why he made the threat.
Companies must take their engines only from an American or from a British company, though.
Until now, Boeing had a lot of success with its 787 models, but they are going to make this one the last.
