Brexit might create even bigger changes for Britain. Apparently, there is a huge chance for the return of the blue passport.

There is already a plan to make the return of the traditional passport. This plan costs roughly 500 million pounds. The Government is the one who started to plan this and wants by 2019 to bring this passport back.

Of course, the new passport will be redesigned and personalized. As Brexit takes place, there is also a need to change the passports and the blue ones are the best choice. They are going to be ready in time for when the Brexit negotiations are over.

This blue passport was first introduced in the 20’s and then replaced after Britain joined the European Union, in 1988. Brits received a purple one then.

Sunday Express reports that they are already looking for companies that can take the contract.

The contract they currently have will expire in a couple of years, the same year when the UK will completely withdraw from the European Union.

In fact, this passport change was planned for quite some while. In 2016, the Home Office Minister gave a hint about this change.

According to Andrew Rosindell, a Conservative MP, the European passport they had until now is a humiliation for their country. It is just an object that merged them into the European identity. In comparison, the blue one expresses their national identity and is a bold statement that screams British.

Therefore, in a couple of years, British will receive the emblematic blue passport.
