Vera Wang received Legion d’Honneur in Paris

The designer received a huge honor yesterday in Paris, right before the fashion week.

The reception took place at noon and featured major personalities of the fashion world in attendance. Wang’s family was also there, including her two daughters.

A black carpet lead the crowd inside the venue. Salle Vauban welcomed the A-listers.

This insignia was founded by Napoleon Bonaparte himself. Founded in 1802, it featured only men along the time.

This is a high honor in France, a woman from abroad receiving it is a huge thing. Wang, of course, delivered a speech, but she was not the only one.

Elbaz, who also received this honor once, welcomed the designer with a bouquet of roses.

The one who introduced the designer is the French ambassador for the United States. Gerard Araud handed her the red ribbon.

Wang looked great in a black dress. She was touched by the moment and even teared up a little. In her speech, she talked about her ‘love affair’ with Paris, which she visited numerous times. The city inspired her creations numerous times.

She praised the city some more and showed her gratefulness for having the chance to live and work there. The time she spent in Paris made her more experienced and engaged into arts.

Bowles delivered the last speech. She had a few notes from Anna Wintour. She recalls the time she met Wang, who first showed her around the Vogue office. Bowles praised Wang’s spirit and personality. She is funny and sophisticated all at once.

Wang has been honored before, she is thankful for this last one and for her career.
