The Queen and the entire royal family held a service to pay their respects and show gratefulness to the troops that fought in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Duchess Kate, Prince William and Harry were present. Prince Charles and his wife were also in attendance.
Theresa May, was also there in the company of the royal family.
Former prime ministers also attended, such as David Cameron.
Tony Blair, who was once prime minister, attended the ceremony, which made people furious. The reason why? He got invited, while the families of the ones that passed away in these missions were not.
Blair is also blamed for taking Britain into the war with Afghanistan at the beginning of the 2000s and then, in the war with Iraq.
After he was invited, the families of the fallen asked Theresa May to apologize for this.
The memorial was held to honor all the service members that served the nation since 1990. There are 300K members in total. In this period of time, almost seven hundred lost their lives in missions.
About 2.500 people were invited to the national event. Amongst them were representatives of the veterans, members of the service.
After the service, a ceremony will be held as they will unveil a work created by Paul Day. He is a sculptor that was hired by the royal family before.
The memorial is set to honor all the members of the British service. It is just a way to express gratefulness for those who have risked their lives for the well-being of their country.
